The Perinatal Support Service is a partnership between Family Action and Better Start Bradford and is an early intervention, low intensity service for those with low level (mild to moderate) diagnosed mental health issues or who are at risk of developing mental health issues in the perinatal period.
We work with families during the pregnancy to one year the birth after depending on need.
You will facilitate a comprehensive assessment process to all parents or prospective parents who access the Bradford Perinatal Support Service from their homes and other community based venues. You will signpost and work in partnership in other agencies where appropriate to meet service user needs. You will also help with allocating to a project befriender and help families stay engaged with the service during the assessment period. This role will involve liaising with professionals including Health Visitors, Midwives and Children’s Centres and other referrers.
Preferably you will have a qualification in Early Years, Nursing, social care NVQ 3 or equivalent or have family support or health related work experience. You will be able to engage with families with complex needs and have the knowledge and skills to deliver a holistic assessment of these needs. Sound knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the assessment process is essential. It is crucial that you have an understanding of the impact of marginalization and deprivation.
In line with community need it is desirable that you speak one or more of the following languages: Urdu, Punjabi, Slovakian, Polish or Hungarian.
You must have access to a vehicle for business purposes and be able to travel frequently, sometimes at short notice, across the Bradford area.
