BRADFORD TRIDENT - Our History

Bradford Trident as a community led company is continuing to work towards transforming the Park Lane, Marshfields and West Bowling areas of Bradford. We are constantly looking towards new opportunities, and ways in which to build upon all the positive work that has been done over the last ten years

The company was formed in 2000 to deliver the government's New Deal for Communities programme and received £50m in total over the ten year period 2000-2010. This has been spent on reducing crime, improving housing, improving educational attainment, increasing employment, enhancing skills development and training of residents, improving resident's health by health initiatives, improving the environment and community involvement. Since 2000 it has commissioned over 200 separate projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the area.

Neighbourhood Management is a cornerstone of our work and we fully involve and consult residents on every aspect of our work to ensure the scheme brings lasting benefits to the whole community. We work closely in partnership with public, private and voluntary sector organisations in the delivery of our programme.

These partnerships and our close community links have had a dramatic and positive affect on many core figures and issues around our theme areas.

Since 2000 significant changes have happened in the Bradford Trident area.

  • Crime rates in key areas such as burglary and vehicle crime have fallen substantially. Meanwhile educational standards have risen dramatically, unemployment has fallen, old community facilities have been enhanced and new ones have been created.
  • We work in partnership with many organisations - the police, the NHS, schools, Job Centre plus and so on - and many of the gains made would not have been possible without their enthusiastic participation and support. We thank them for their help.
  • In turn local residents have contributed greatly to our successes. Our Community Directors and closely allied, Community Councillors are elected from the local community and many residents have participated in forums, planning and feedback projects
